Good Afternoon All,

I’d like to shed some light on an important aspect of the customers short term right to reject that many of you may not be fully aware of. Did you know that if a customer reports an issue with their vehicle within the first thirty days, the customer needs to not only prove that the vehicle has a fault, but also that the fault would render the vehicle of unsatisfactory quality (it is not “any” fault that allows the rejection). If they can do this then the customer is entitled to reject the vehicle and ask for a full refund.

However, here’s a crucial point that may come as a surprise: when a customer reports a fault within this initial 30-day period and opts for a repair, the clock on their short term right to reject the vehicle effectively pauses! That’s right—the moment the the customer reports a fault with the vehicle and accepts a repair, the 30-day countdown is temporarily halted.

Let’s explore this with an example: Customer buys a vehicle and reports a fault on day 10. He brings it in for repairs on day 12. The pause on his 30-day right to reject starts on day 10. Once the customer receives their vehicle back, the balance of the 20 days resumes again, even if this means they will have owned the vehicle for more than 30 days at this stage!
